Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the 57th plenary session of the Senate, senators reviewed the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

It was noted that in order to significantly improve the quality of legislative activities and enhance the legal framework for ongoing reforms, Senate committees in 2020 studied the implementation of several laws, the practice of law enforcement, and monitored the adoption of regulatory acts.

An analysis of the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the State Border of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and the law enforcement practice conducted by the Senate Committee on Defense and Security revealed the need to revise and improve certain provisions.

As a result, a new version of the Law "On the State Border of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was adopted. This law establishes the fundamentals of state policy in the area of border establishment, change, protection, and security, and defines the legal status of authorized state bodies in this field.

Additionally, the rights and obligations of individuals crossing the State Border of Uzbekistan at checkpoints, as well as an exhaustive list of grounds for temporarily restricting or suspending the movement of people, vehicles, and goods, have been clarified.

However, to prevent misinterpretation in law enforcement practices regarding certain concepts in the field of border establishment, change, protection, and security, there is a need to introduce amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan.

Therefore, the discussed Law introduces changes and additions that bring certain provisions of five codes and eight laws into compliance with the Law "On the State Border of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

Senators emphasized that the adoption of this Law ensures the precise and uniform application of concepts related to the establishment, change, protection, and security of the State Border of Uzbekistan and clarifies the authority of the Border Troops of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan.

After discussions, the Law was approved by the senators.
