Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Matchweek 29 of the English Premier League, Manchester City played to a 2-2 draw at home against Brighton, losing their lead after an own goal by Uzbek defender Abdulkodir Khusanov.

The match started in City’s favor as Erling Haaland confidently converted a penalty in the 11th minute, netting his 21st goal of the season. This strike also marked his 100th direct goal contribution in the Premier League (84 goals and 16 assists) in just **94 matches—**a record-breaking feat in league history.

However, Brighton quickly responded, equalizing in the 21st minute when Pervis Estupiñán delivered a precise free-kick, leaving Ederson with no chance. Just before halftime, in the 39th minute, City reclaimed the lead through a goal from Omar Marmoush.

The game’s decisive moment came in the 48th minute, when Abdulkodir Khusanov attempted to clear a header by Adam Webster but inadvertently sent the ball into his own net. This own goal sealed the final score at 2-2.

Following the draw, Manchester City dropped to fifth place in the league table with 48 points, while Brighton climbed to seventh with 47 points.

City manager Pep Guardiola expressed disappointment with the result but praised his team’s performance, reaffirming their commitment to fighting for top positions in the league.

For Abdulkodir Khusanov, this own goal was an unfortunate moment, especially given his solid performances in previous matches, including his debut goal for Manchester City in February. This marked his first own goal for the club.
