CIS PM consider several issues at Ashgabat
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Council of the heads of governments of the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) was held in Ashgabat on 21 November 2014, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Rustam Azimov represented Uzbekistan at the session.

Prime Ministers considered over 20 issues related to various aspects of integration of the eleven states of the CIS.

Prime Ministers analyzed implementation of the agreement on free trade from 18 October 2014. Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine ratified the document. Tajikistan is completing ratification process. Uzbekistan joined the agreement on 31 May 2014.

It was noted that all sides are executive their obligations on export duties and decreasing use of special protection, anti-damping and compensational measures in mutual trade.

They praised activities of Intergovernmental Council on exploration, use and protection of entrails in 2011-2013 and discussed current state of competition and price forming for oil and oil products.

Prime Ministers considered issues related to cooperation in atom energy sphere, including cooperation on use of atom energy in peaceful purpose, programme on reclamation areas of the states, exposed by uranium production.

Some higher educational institutions received status of basic organization of the CIS. At the session, the officials considered developing and strengthening humanitarian cooperation within the CIS areas.

In particular, they considered a plan of priority measures in humanitarian cooperation for 2015-2016. The programme has 200 points, envisaging development of cooperation in culture, education, science, information and mass communication, book publishing, sport, tourism, etc.

The plan of measures for 2015-2017 on realization of the strategy of cooperation in tourism sphere in CIS till 2020 was approved. The plan envisages development of tourism services in the member states, standardization of services, etc.

At the session, Aleksander Kovalev has been appointed as the chairman of the Committee on soldiers-internationalists affairs. The Prime Ministers also discussed some budget-financial issues.

Next session of the CIS Prime Ministers’ Council will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, in May 2015.
