CIS FMs to hold meeting in Bishkek
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on 3 April 2015.

Delegations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine at the level of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs will attend the event. Representatives of the CIS Executive Committee will also participate in the session.

Foreign Ministers will consider over 15 issues related to cooperation of the CIS states in political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, as well as security areas.

The ministers will discuss a draft statement of the CIS Foreign Ministers to the 40th anniversary of signing of final act of Conference for security and cooperation in Europe.

The draft statement stated that the sides are supporting development of mutual beneficial cooperation between CIS and the OSCE, expanding contacts on issues of mutual interest.

CIS Foreign Ministers also will discuss a plan of multilevel consultations of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs within the CIS in 2014 and the plan for 2015.

In 2014, the CIS Foreign Ministers held nine consultations and discussed cooperation of CIS and EU, agenda of UN General Assembly and OSCE, as well as situation in Afghanistan and its impact to the security of Central Asia.

At the session, Foreign Ministers will consider several documents on humanitarian cooperation. In particular, they will discuss a draft plan of the main events of cooperation of the CIS states in culture sphere for 2016-2020.

The draft plan includes over 120 measures in culture sphere in the CIS states directed at developing cooperation in preserving and using historic-cultural heritage, protection of intangible heritage and art of people. It is expected that Foreign Ministers will discuss documents, regulating interaction in strengthening border security at external borders, preventing and liquidated emergency situations, developing sports, control and assessment of radiation, chemical and biological situation.
