CIS FMs hold meeting in Belarus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Council of the ministers of foreign affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Minsk, Belarus, on 24 October 2013. A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov participated at the session.

The press-service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said that the Foreign Ministers considered issues, included to upcoming session of the Council of the heads of the states of the CIS.

According to the Executive Committee, the CIS Foreign Ministers considered 14 issues, related to various aspects of cooperation within the organization. They approved 17 corresponding documents.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus said that the CIS officials considered issues related to developing cooperation in safety and combating legal violations, cooperation in humanitarian, cultural and tourism spheres.

Foreign Ministers approved a draft programme on cooperation in fighting terrorism and other violent manifestation of extremism for 2014-2016, illicit trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors, and drug abuse for 2014-2018, and human trafficking for 2014-2018, as well as the Interstate programme of the joint measures to combating crime in 2014-2018. They also reviewed and endorsed the draft agreement on formation of the Interstate Council on fighting against corruption.

The CIS officials discussed issues of implementation of inter-governmental programme “Cultural capital of the Commonwealth” in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in 2014. They approved a draft strategy on developing of cooperation within the CIS in tourism sector till 2020.

The ministers also considered issue of supporting youth initiatives within the Commonwealth. They approved action plan for 2014-2015 on implementation of the strategy of international youth cooperation within the CIS till 2020.

The ministers discussed draft decisions of the Council of the heads of the state on announcement of 2015 as the year of veterans, on single jubilee awards, as well as plan of main events on preparation and celebration of the 70th anniversary of victory at the World War II.
