Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 May 2023, a meeting of the Expert Council of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on diabetes was held at the CIS headquarters via videoconference.
The event was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States and the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Executive Committee reports.
Members of the Expert Council discussed the implementation in 2022 of the Cooperation Program of the CIS Member States on the Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus for 2021–2025. When considering this topic, the emphasis was placed on the analysis of the prevention of diabetes mellitus, its early diagnosis, protection of the rights and interests of patients with this disease, their physical, psychological and social rehabilitation, as well as on strengthening control over the circulation of drugs used to treat diabetes mellitus. and its complications, in order to counteract the circulation of low-quality and counterfeit medicines.
The participants of the meeting exchanged information on the systems of organization of medical and social care for patients with diabetes mellitus in their countries, got acquainted with the principles and approaches when coding the causes of death from diabetes mellitus in the Russian Federation.
In addition, the meeting discussed preparations for the next meeting of the CIS Health Cooperation Council, as well as determined the draft agenda, date and venue for the next meeting of the Expert Council of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Diabetes.
