Chinese firms modernize Uzbektelecom network
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corporation will modernize telecommunication network of Uzbektelecom for US$13 million in 2009-2010.

Chinese companies became winner of closed tender on the project, which will finance due to resources of the loans of Eximbank. Uzbektelecom sign contracts with Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corporation in July.

It is expected that Huawei will supply equipment for expansion and reconstruction of wireless access network in rural areas for US$7 million. The company will also supply 70 base stations.

The project realization will allow installation of telephones to all socially important objects in the regions. Currently, the figure is 95%.

ZTE will reconstruct 72 analogue telephone stations in the regions of Uzbekistan. The cost of the project is about US$6 million.
