China’s Exim Bank may finance the purchase of 200 electric buses for Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ilkhomjon Abdugaforov, Deputy Minister of Transport, held a meeting with Mo Go, Head of the Department of Free Trade and Preferential Lending at the Export-Import Bank of China.

The meeting also involved representatives from the Main Department for the Development of Transport and Road Infrastructure of Tashkent City, as well as the joint-stock company "Toshshakhartranskhizmat."

The discussions focused on the provision of financing by China’s Exim Bank for the project of acquiring 200 electric buses for the capital’s public transportation system.

The project is being implemented as part of the State Program for the Realization of the "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy and the declared "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy Development." Its aim is to adapt to climate change, promote carbon-neutral solutions, and develop green projects, which are also outlined in relevant decrees by the President and Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting also addressed issues related to the accelerated acquisition of 1,000 large buses powered by compressed natural gas, intended for public transportation in Nukus and administrative centers of the regions.

Following the negotiations, the parties outlined further steps to deepen cooperation within the framework of joint projects.
