China, Uzbekistan to foster development of bilateral ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of China Hu Jintao held negotiations with the visiting President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in Beijing on 19 April 2011. After the talks, the sides signed a joint statement.

The sides highly rated current development of the Chinese-Uzbek relations and expressed hope to boost development of bilateral relations on the base of mutual respect and interest, China International Radio said.

Hu Jintao made five proposals on comprehensive development of the Chinese-Uzbek relations: both sides should strengthen contacts on various levels and political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation, deepen cooperation in security sphere, expand humanitarian exchange and strengthen coordination on international and regional problems.

Chinese leader said that China and Uzbekistan need to keep stable growth of bilateral trade turnover and expand cooperation in energy, transport, communication and other sectors. He said that it is necessary to improve investment climate at the enterprises of two states. Besides, it is necessary to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in security sector in bilateral and multilateral formats. Hu Jintao said China supports accession of Uzbekistan to the World Trade Organization and is ready to assist the Uzbek side to strengthen cooperation within the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov, in his turn, stated that Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate with China to develop friendly partnership of two states. He said that the Uzbek side supports principle and position of China on issues of Taiwan, Tibet and other problems, related to territorial integrity. Uzbekistan will interact with China to fight “three evils” to ensure peace and stability in the region.
