Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan took place today. 

The main issue on the agenda was the consideration of a resignation statement of Rustam Shaabdurakhmonov, who has been the chairman of the NOC since May 2019. This was reported by the press service of the NOC of Uzbekistan.

Speaking at the meeting, R. Shaabdurakhmanov especially noted the great attention paid in recent years by the head of state to physical culture and sports, the large-scale reforms carried out in this area, the conditions being created, the merits in strengthening the health of the population and promoting a healthy lifestyle in our country and thanked for everything this is a respected President.

In turn, the statement of R. Shaabdurakhmanov was accepted by the members of the Executive Committee.

The new head of the National Olympic Committee will be elected at a meeting of the extraordinary General Assembly of the NOC.
