Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan became one of the major buyers of gold in February, the World Gold Council (WGC) said.
According to the WGC, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan purchased 8 tons of gold in February. Note that in January the regulator sold 11.5 tons of gold. Uzbekistan's gold reserves amounted to 395.94 tons.
Uzbekistan ranks first in Central Asia in terms of the volume of gold in gold and foreign exchange reserves.
World central banks, according to preliminary data, in February 2023 increased gold reserves by 52 tons.
China has become the largest buyer of gold. China bought 25 tons of gold in February. Türkiye came in second. In February, the country purchased 22 tons. In the reporting period, Singapore and India purchased 7 and 3 tons of gold, respectively.
The only net seller during the month was the National Bank of Kazakhstan - its official gold reserves decreased by 13 tons.
