Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan is considering the possibility of introducing a limit on the number of bank cards that can be issued to an individual. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the regulator, Behzod Khamraev, during a media dialogue on November 26, as reported by Spot.
Khamraev noted that currently, the legislation does not set limits on the number of cards a person can open in their name. As a result, some clients own more than a hundred cards.
The Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank emphasized that such cards are often used as tools for fraudulent activities, including schemes to withdraw funds illegally.
When asked about the possible maximum number of cards, Khamraev did not provide a specific answer, noting that the regulator intends to carefully study the issue in order to make the most balanced decision.
