Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan reacted to reports on social networks about increased fees for withdrawing cash from ATMs.
On 11 July 2022, the news spread on social media that, depending on the amount of cash withdrawal, some ATMs charge a fee of up to 3%.
According to the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in connection with the holidays, more than 9,500 ATMs in the territory of the republic are provided with uninterrupted operation and a sufficient amount of cash.
Commission payments for cash withdrawals from ATMs are set by commercial banks independently, based on the cost of servicing ATMs, and currently do not exceed 1%.
If a commercial bank, as an experiment, sets a high commission in a separate ATM, then in a free market it does not justify itself. Because in other ATMs, the commission fee is set at 1 percent or less, so consumers prefer to use a cheap service
