Central Asian Countries Prepare New Initiatives to Strengthen Regional Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 August, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a special event dedicated to preparations for the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

The meeting was also attended by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov; President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon; Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev; and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov. Among those present were members of official delegations and representatives of the public.

The session reviewed the key aspects of preparations for the upcoming summit, which will be held in Tashkent. Shavkat Mirziyoyev briefed participants on the work being carried out under Uzbekistan’s chairmanship, recalling the Chairmanship Concept and the Joint Events Schedule adopted earlier this year.

Meetings have already taken place involving security council secretaries, heads of intelligence services, and ministers of industry, energy, water management, and ecology, as well as media and youth forums. By the end of the year, an interparliamentary forum, meetings of defense, trade, and transport ministers, and a range of cultural and humanitarian events are also planned.

Special attention is being given to the preparation of conceptual documents designed to form a new agenda for regional partnership and to strengthen its legal and regulatory framework. The President of Uzbekistan noted that the Tashkent summit will put forward initiatives aimed at deepening political dialogue, expanding cross‑border trade, launching new economic cooperation projects, and advancing collaboration in water, energy, and transport. Climate change issues will also feature prominently on the agenda.

Particular emphasis was placed on the participation of Azerbaijan, with which the region’s countries are actively developing cooperation in trade, transport, and green energy.

In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that coordinated action and shared approaches among the Central Asian states will ensure the region’s sustainable development and prosperity.
