Joint initiative by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MASHAV center for cooperation) and the International Coordination Water Commission (ICWC) of Central Asia, Tashkent brought about a special multilateral experts and decision makers cooperation on water resources.

Over 21 specialists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are participating in 24 days tailor made course on "Management of water resources and water savings technologies for agriculture". The course started on 22 October at the training center CINADCO in Israel, a press release of Israeli embassy in Tashkent said.

Farther more, Israel is hosting also a senior group of 9 heads of ministries and relevant government agencies from the five Central Asian countries and from the ICWC for International seminar on "Principles and practice of water management". The seminar started on 29 October and will last for eight days.

During there time in Israel the participants will also take part in "WATEC 2007 - International Water Technologies and Environmental Control Exhibition and Conference", the biggest event in the field of water management in Israel.

Based on its accumulated experience, Israel is poised to play a major role in supplying the world with cutting-edge water and environmental solutions. At the same time the successful water management is vital for the Central Asian counties, who are facing similar challenges.

Acknowledging the problem and the need to approach it brought about financing from MASHAV and support from IWMI, Asian Development Bank, World Bank and UNDP in accomplishing this cooperation.
