Center of high technologies to be created in Uzbekistan in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for High Technologies will be created in Tashkent, capital city of Uzbekistan, in 2012. The center will be founded in cooperation with the Cambridge University (Great Britain).

On 26 October 2011, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution on creation of the Center of high technologies in Tashkent city.

The founders of the state enterprise “Educational-experimental center for high technologies” are the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and Science Academy of Uzbekistan.

Earlier, these two bodies, National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek and Cambridge University signed a memorandum of understanding on creation of the Center. The partners form British side are Cambridge Forum on Central Asia and Cambridge Enterprise.

The first body is a research center, coordinating academic studies related to the Central Asian region and the second is created to commercialize perspective development of its employees.

The center will be headed by the representative of the British university till 2016. The center will be created at Yoshlik Student City in Tashkent.

Pravda Vostoka reported that some 6.7 billion soums were issued to preparation of educational-material base and US$300,000 to payment of foreign teachers in 2011. Their salaries will be approved by trustee fund of the center at the wage level of Cambridge University.

Enterprises and business entities of Uzbekistan will allocate sponsorship aid at the size of 3.5 million euros to purchase necessary lab equipment and tools. The center will be equipped by 1 July 2012.
