Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2024, the total cash inflow, including cash and transactions through terminals, reached 840 trillion soums, reflecting a 26% increase compared to 2023, according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
The volume of cash turnover through the banking system amounted to 1,011 trillion soums, with 501 trillion soums received by bank cashiers and 510 trillion soums disbursed. This figure marked a 22% rise from the previous year.
Funds credited to bank cards increased 1.3 times compared to 2023, totaling 1,034 trillion soums. The volume of cash withdrawals from cards reached 226 trillion soums, a 19.5% year-on-year increase.
Over the year, the Central Bank introduced additional new banknotes, resulting in an increase of 152 million banknotes in circulation.
The share of 200,000-soum banknotes in the total cash structure rose from 18.6% to 23.4%, while 20,000-soum banknotes increased from 4.4% to 6.7%.
In contrast, the share of 100,000-soum banknotes declined from 42.5% to 40.9%, and 50,000-soum banknotes dropped from 20.5% to 16.6%.
Special attention was given to replacing older banknotes. The share of old-design banknotes decreased significantly: 5,000-soum notes dropped from 67% in 2023 to 25% in 2024, 10,000-soum notes fell from 64% to 24%, 50,000-soum notes declined from 61% to 25% and 100,000-soum notes reduced from 39% to 18%.
