Bunyodkor extend unbeaten course
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s AFC Champions League 2012 quarter-finalists Bunyodkor have prolonged their unbeaten run to eight straight matches in all competitions when they beat Andijon in their Uzbek Pro League match on Sunday.

Only one of the last eight matches was a draw, with Nasaf on June 16, with the seven wins including four away matches against Dinamo Samarqand, Seongnam Ihlwa Chunma (in the ACL round of 16), Neftchi and the latest opponents Andijon.

Macedonian striker Stevica Ristic registered the first goal for Bunyodkor after 19 minutes that was equalised by Andijon attacker Viktor Klishin’s strike in the 23rd minute, but then Ristic’s colleague Azizbek Haydarov added their second goal in the 31st minute. Ristic again got on the score-sheets 10 minutes into the second half before defender Ruslan Melzitdinov submitted Bunyodkor’s fourth goal, extinguishing any dreams for Andijon to make a comeback.

The four-time Uzbek champions are now with 30 points from 13 matches, five points above second-positioned Nasaf who crashed out of the ACL having finished at the bottom of Group A in May.

Bunyodkor got Australian outfit Adelaide United in the double header ACL quarterfinal during an official draw recently.

They had finished second in Group E in their ACL campaign below leaders Adelaide United of Australia and then beat Korea Republic outfit Seongnam Ihlwa Chunma 1-0 in the Round of 16.

But then, a ‘rematch’ is now in order as they were again drawn against Adelaide for their two-legged quarter-final encounter on September 19 at Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide, and in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on October 3.
