The ministry said that currently there are 9,765 general schools, 4,962 kindergardens, 211 children centers “Barkamol Avlod”, 299 children music and art schools, 445 children sport schools, 27 Mercy Houses, five state pedagogic institutes and 16 institutes of improving skills of teachers.
Over 4.468 million pupils study at educational establishment and about 410,654 teachers provide education them. Education is conducted in seven languages – Uzbek, Karakalpak, Russian, Kazakh, Tajik, Kyrgyz and Turmen.
The ministry said that it is planned over 22.533 million copies of books and manuals of 392 titles for first, fourth, sixth and seventh classes of general schools in 2013-2014 academic year. They were all published and delivered to places.
Additional sets of Kid’s English book for the first classes were published and delivered to the schools – 446,084 copies in Uzbek and 59,974 copies in Russian.
The Ministry of Public Education have been conducting four-stage knowledge competition “Bilimlar bellashuvi” (Knowledge battle) on educational programme of the general schools.
In 2012-2013 academic year, some 9,600 general schools participated in the contest and some 1.95 million pupils attended the contest.
The ministry said that pupils of Bukhara region collected 86.6 points in the contest and won the first place. Pupils of Navoi region were second with 84.5 points and Samarkand region third with 81.9 points.
Third stage of Republican Olympiad on educational programme among students of secondary special, professional and educational institutions, were held in Karakalpakstan, Tashkent city and in the region in March 2013.
About 6,979 pupils of the ninth classes participated at the Olympiad and 878 of them were winners.
Comparative analysis of monitoring the quality of education by 9 academic subjects showed that representatives of Bukhara (55.9%), Navoi (55.4%), Khorezm (55.1%) regions and Tashkent city (54.9%) achieved high results in 2012-2013 academic year.
