Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The carcass of a Tien Shan brown bear, listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan, has been discovered in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region.

Ecology Department officials found the bear’s skin during a raid in the "Akharsoy" area of Burchmulla State Forestry.

According to the Zoology Institute of the Academy of Sciences, the bear was killed with a rope, and its body was completely taken by poachers, leaving only the skin behind.

The case materials have been handed over to the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs to identify and hold the responsible parties accountable. Hunting for the Tien Shan brown bear is strictly prohibited.
