Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Uzbekistan’s Ambassador, Ravshan Usmanov, met with Charlie Walker, Deputy Director-General for Global Partnerships at the British Council, Dunyo News Agency reported.

During the meeting, the British side was briefed on the large-scale changes being implemented in Uzbekistan and the preparation process for the upcoming elections to representative bodies of state power.

Charlie Walker highly appreciated the reforms carried out in recent years in the field of education in Uzbekistan, as well as the conditions created for young people to receive quality education and learn foreign languages.

It was noted that the British Council is interested in further expanding and strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan in the areas of secondary and higher education, as well as in the field of arts and culture.

The Deputy Director-General welcomed the upcoming international conference on the creative economy to be held in Uzbekistan on 2-4 October, and noted that the British Council would provide practical assistance in organizing this event at a high level.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to expand the British Council’s English language training programs in Uzbekistan and to involve its representatives in the Central Asian Education Forum, which will be held in Tashkent on 15-17 October.
