The British Ambassador visited the cities of Andijan, Namangan and Fergana to learn more about the situation in the region, including trends in economic and social development.
The UK Embassy in Tashkent said that he also discussed the business climate in the region and potential opportunities for British companies. In addition, officials from regional branches of the Office of Ombudsman briefed the Ambassador on their work on the protection of citizens’ rights.
Summing up his trip to the Fergana Valley, Her Majesty’s Ambassador George Edgar said: ‘This was my first visit to the Fergana valley.
With almost 30% of the country’s population and accounting for 21% of its GDP, it’s an important region, and it was good to have this opportunity to hear from local leaders and to see for myself how it’s changing and developing.’
