“Blood Moon” Over Tashkent: Uzbekistan Witnesses a Total Lunar Eclipse
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On Sunday evening, residents of Uzbekistan witnessed a total lunar eclipse, during which Earth’s satellite turned deep red-orange, a phenomenon known as the “Blood Moon.”
The total phase of the eclipse lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes, with the entire event spanning more than five hours. At its peak, the Moon was fully immersed in Earth’s shadow. Its unusual color is caused by the refraction of sunlight in the atmosphere: shorter blue rays scatter, while predominantly red and orange hues reach the Moon’s surface.
In Tashkent, the eclipse began at 21:27 local time.
The total phase started at 22:30, reached its maximum at 23:11, and ended at 23:52.
The final partial stage concluded after midnight, at 00:56 on September 8.
