Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis have passed in the first reading a bill that proposes a ban on the circulation of electronic cigarettes in the country. This was stated by the press service of the Legislative Chamber.
The bill includes a ban on the production, manufacturing, storage, transportation, import, and export of nicotine delivery systems, including electronic cigarettes and their liquids.
The bill also establishes penalties for violations related to the illegal circulation of smokeless tobacco products and devices for nicotine consumption, including electronic cigarettes.
According to the press service, experts warn that electronic cigarettes, in addition to nicotine, contain 80 different carcinogenic and toxic chemicals and heavy metals, which pose significant harm to both human health and the environment.
The growing nicotine dependence, particularly among youth, could lead to brain pathologies and reduced intellectual abilities in children and adolescents.
The adoption of the law aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, especially among young people.
