Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The annual tourism fair “Vakantie Expobeur” was held at the ICC Gent exhibition center in the Belgian city of Ghent, Dunyo reported.

It presented tourist destinations in more than 70 countries and the services of about 60 travel companies and agencies operating in the northern and western parts of Belgium.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Benelux countries together with the Silk Voyage travel company also participated in this event, organizing a colorful exhibition that reflected the tourism opportunities of our republic.

The current fair from the series of annual exhibitions Vakantie was first held in the city of Ghent and became a good platform for the presentation of the tourist potential of Uzbekistan, which canceled entry visas for tourists from the Benelux countries.

Visitors to the stand were provided with information about tourist routes, historical and cultural attractions, the development of the tourism industry, including hotel and transport infrastructure.

Films of the world’s leading television companies - TV5 Monde, Euronews, NPO3, as well as videos prepared by the State Committee for Tourism of Uzbekistan, telling about our country, its nature, climate, the rich heritage of the Uzbek people, modern development and economic potential were shown here.

Of great interest among Europeans was the information about combined tours, including both cultural, educational and ecological tourism.

It was emphasized that stability, generosity and hospitality of the Uzbek people are also important factors of tourist attractiveness of Uzbekistan.

The fair in the city of Gent once again confirmed the growing desire of the Belgians to get acquainted with the history, culture, traditions and customs of the peoples living along the route of the Silk Road, with Uzbekistan occupying a special place.
