Technologies 28/11/2011 Beeline to construct 4G network in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Single communication operator Beeline (Untel LLC and Buzton JV) is planning to construct the fourth generation network in Uzbekistan till the end of 2011.

Vice President of Vimpelcom Ltd on development of business in CIS states Dmitry Kromsky said that the operator received permission for construction of netwok on LTE (Long-Term Evolution) technology.

He said that the operator became the first subsidiary of Russia’s Vimpelcom in the CIS states, which received license for construction of 4G network. He noted that this allows to look to future with optimism.

Kromsky underlined that the fragment of the LTE network will be launched till the end of 2011. He added that the network will show opportunities of LT network, speed of which can reach 100 Mbits.

Andrei Safronyuk, Director General of Unitel LLC, said Uzbekistan is only country n the CIS, where three large mobile operators obtained license for construction of LTE network.

As reported earlier, two mobile operators – MTS Uzbekistan and UCell – launched 4G network on the base of LTE technology in Tashkent.

Unitel was founded in 1996. It started commercial activity on 25 September 1997. Currently, it is one of the leading GSM-operators of Uzbekistan. As of the end of the third quarter of 2011, number of subscribers has 5.688 million.
