Beeline has over 3.7m users as of 26 Dec

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of mobile subscribers of Unitel, subsidiary of Russia’s Vimpelcom in Uzbekistan, made up 3.7 million as of 26 December 2008, the official of Unitel said on Friday, 26 December.

The company’s official said that 90% of 3.7 million subscribers are active users.

According to the Unitel data, the company accounted over 3.5 million subscribers at the end of November. It means that about 200,000 new subscribers joined the company in December.

Unitel, rendering services under Beeline brand, was founded in 1996 and started commercial activity on 25 September 1997. Currently, it is one of the leaders among GSM operators in Uzbekistan.

In February 2006, Unitel joined Vimpelcom Group (Russia), one of the largest mobile operators of Russia and the CIS. Unitel started to render services under Beeline brand from 12 September 2006.
