Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The bas-relief of the great writer and outstanding figure Chingiz Aitmatov was set in Tashkent. This was reported by the press service of the capital’s hokimiyat.
In April 2018, the President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution on the broad celebration of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Chingiz Aitmatov. “The great writer and public figure Chingiz Aitmatov is an outstanding person, the pride of not only Kyrgyz, but also all Turkic peoples, including the people of Uzbekistan,” the document said.
An action plan was developed to celebrate this significant date, which envisaged preparation and publication of the book of memoirs "Chingiz Aitmatov and Uzbekistan", the creation of a documentary film about the life and work of the writer and much more.
As part of this decree, in July 2018, Tashkent’s Bodomzor street was renamed into Chingiz Aitmatov Street.
On the day of the 90th anniversary of the outstanding cultural figure, a bas-relief was set up on the street named after him. An opening ceremony was attended by representatives of government agencies, art and creative youth.
In addition, in the second decade of December 2018, a creative evening will be held in the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater dedicated to the memory of an outstanding writer.
