Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Baku, Tashkent, and other capitals of CIS countries may become the first cities to be awarded the title of "City of Labor Glory" by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This was announced by the CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev following the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth.
Lebedev noted that proposals for selecting cities to receive this title will be specifically put forward by the CIS member states.
Among the mentioned cities are Baku, Tashkent, and other capitals that hosted industrial enterprises during the Great Patriotic War, which contributed to the war effort and the victory.
The Council for Humanitarian Cooperation will consider these proposals, after which they will be presented at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State for final approval.
The initiative to establish the title "City of Labor Glory" was proposed by President of Russia Vladimir Putin during the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.
