Babur Shayakubov: The World Today Is Undergoing Complex Geopolitical and Geo-Economic Transformations on a Global Scale

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The world today is undergoing complex geopolitical and geo-economic transformations on a global scale. This perspective was expressed by Colonel Babur Shayakubov, Head of the Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during his opening speech at the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference on "The Impact of Geopolitical and Geo-Economic Changes on Regional Security and Conflict Prevention."

According to him, “Today, alarming trends are emerging, characterized by the declining influence of international security institutions in conflict prevention and resolution, the use of non-diplomatic and force-based tools in addressing interstate disputes, and the growing prevalence of militaristic rhetoric in international affairs.”э

Shayakubov believes that “all these deglobalization processes, combined with traditional and apparent challenges and threats, pose an additional danger: the erosion of the value of ‘peace’ as a universal asset that ensures human development and prosperity.”

“For this reason, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with the support of the highest political leadership of friendly nations, pursues an active and targeted policy aimed at preserving peace and stability in Central Asia and strengthening an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation both within the region and beyond,” concluded Shayakubov.

The International Scientific and Practical Conference is held annually by the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan.

The event brings together leaders of state and non-state institutions in the fields of politics, security, economics, and international cooperation, international experts, representatives of regional and international organizations, and military attachés accredited to foreign embassies in Uzbekistan, with a total of about 80 participants.
