Aziz Abdukhakimov: "We need to motivate our athletes so that they can adequately participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020"

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the eve of the 2021 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Uzbekistan carried out systematic work to separate the motivation of our athletes and coaches, as well as to organize their effective preparation for this prestigious competition. This was announced at a meeting at the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov.

“To date, the sports delegation of Uzbekistan has received a total of 42 licenses to participate in the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo. At a time when the President and the Government are paying so much attention to the development of sports, this figure is not high. Currently, our athletes are competing for another 68 licenses. The Uzbek sports delegation intends to receive a total of 110 licenses for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and there are enough opportunities for this,” Aziz Abdukhakimov said at the meeting.

Today, continuous trainings have been organized for members of the national team of Uzbekistan participating in the Tokyo 2020 Games. At the same time, conditions are being created so that our team could hold training camps in a number of sports abroad.

In addition, our team has 22 qualified foreign coaches in 17 sports.

It should be noted that until 25 June, our national Olympic sports teams will take part in 49 licensed international competitions in 20 sports.

At the meeting, Aziz Abdukhakimov instructed tourism and sports consultants from all regions to keep abreast of the social status of every athlete who received a ticket to the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and is fighting for licenses, to seriously study the problems and solve them. on site, which will motivate them to better prepare for a prestigious sporting event.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the IV Summer Asian Youth Games in Tashkent in 2025 and for the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. Suggestions and comments were made on strengthening the selection work among young people who can participate in these competitions, creating all conditions for their thorough preparation.

At the end of the meeting, a road map was developed for solving problems and proposals, and measures to eliminate deficiencies were identified.
