Awarding ceremony of the winners of the Photo biennale in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 October, at the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, was held an official award ceremony of the Sixth Tashkent International Photo biennale - TashkentAle 2012.

The main purpose of such type of activities is to demonstrate for general public the best examples of domestic and foreign photo arts, as well as get acquainted it with classical and contemporary photography trends. Moreover, photo biennale is a discussion platform, where can meet and share own experience young and leading photographers from around the world.

The opening speech to an audience was given by the chairman of the Academy of Arts Akmal Nuriddinov and the director of Tashkent International Photo biennale Shakhnoza Karimbabaeva.

This year, more than 80 photographers were from Uzbekistan, and the total number of the participants was more than 200, from over 35 countries. In addition, in the Central Exhibition Hall, there was presented a solo exhibition named "Dead Sea" by photographer Isik Binunski from Israel.

Also, within the frameworks of the photo biennale, there was conducted a conference "Photo Art: Past, Present and Future" with attendees from different countries.

Under the decision of the professional jury, the golden medals were awarded to photographers under following nominations: "Best young photographer" - Alexander Barkovsky (Uzbekistan), "Best curatorial project" - Kaveh Bagdadchi (Iran), "Best Photo for the Family" - Alexander Charvát (Ukraine) , "Best art Photography" - Leega Saxe (Latvia), "Best experimental Photography" - Tatev Mnatsakanyan (Armenia).
