Austrian delegation visits Uzbek Interior Ministry for talks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Austrian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Interior Herbert Anderl has paid a working visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan. The first deputy minister of internal affairs of Uzbekistan, Col A. Ibrohimov, received the visitors and held talks with them.

During the talks, Ibrohimov noted the importance and significance of Uzbek-Austrian cooperation on global issues as well as in the filed of law-enforcement.

It is necessary to consolidate all efforts and initiate close cooperation and multilateral relations in the struggle against present-day negative phenomena such as international terrorism, religious extremism, illegal drug smuggling and other crimes.

The drug dealers’ attempts to expand their activities to influence and have an impact on young people are of special concern. In their attempt they are trying to use our country as a link for smuggling drugs from Afghanistan to Europe. The law-enforcement agencies are taking measures to stem the inflow of Afghan heroin and opiate, and this work is continuing.

In turn, Herbert Anderl thanked for the warm reception and expressed his confidence that relations between the two countries’ law-enforcement agencies will further develop to a higher level. This means a regular exchange of information, up-to-date technologies, practices and experience on the basis of meetings, seminars and training courses.

During the meeting the sides discussed priority issues and made corresponding decisions.
