Asrlar Sadosi announces its plans and projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- About two weeks left till the start of “Asrlar Sadosi” Festival of Traditional Culture, one of largest events in Uzbekistan. Asrlar Sadosi will be held in the Sarmishsai Gorge (Navoi Region), cities of Navoi and Bukhara regions on 4-5 May 2013.

The festival was organized by Fund Forum and UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan. The official tour operator for the annual festival is ‘Kelajak Tur’ Bureau for International and Youth Tourism and Cooperation.

Fund Forum said that Asrlar Sadosi will be held in the Sarmishsai Gorge and several events will be held in Navoi city and Bukhara city in 2013.

Within the festival, Bukhara will host conference and presentation of six books on architecture epigraphy, developed at the initiative of Fund Forum. Large number of researchers and scholars worked on books. Six regions of Uzbekistan will present six books, which are dedicated to scripts at monuments.

Mehr Nuri Foundation will also launch restored Bibi Orif mausoleum in Bukhara city and hand over stipends to 20 students of 10 madrasahs of Uzbekistan within annual programme on support of spiritual education.

Festival of National Clothe will be held in the Sarmishsai Gorge. Designers studied history of national costume to develop their collection. Several collections were developed on motifs of Sarmishsai ancient petroglyphs. It is also planned to present clothes of other regions of Uzbekistan, as well as children clothes.

Fair of decorative and applied art will be held within the event. Some 80 masters from various regions of Uzbekistan will participate at the event.

As a tradition, Auction of modern art, organized by “MEROS” Association of Antiques of Uzbekistan in cooperation with British auction house CHRISTIE’S, will be held within the festival. Auctioneer of CHRISTIE’S James Lees will conduct the auction.

The participants of Asrlar Sadosi will have chance to familiarize with ancient monuments of Sarmishsai – ancient petroglyphs. As of today, more than 10,000 rock engravings have been discovered in the Sarmishsai Gorge and in the vicinity. The cliffs feature engraved images of humans, the weapons and tools they used, their clothes and household items.

Traditional outdoor fete, performances of folk bands, fair of decorative and applied art, national games, and other events will be held at Sarmishsai Gorge within two days. The festival will wrap up its work with gala-concert.

The festival will be attended by best folk bands, designers, applied art masters, cooks from all regions of Uzbekistan.
