Sports 23/04/2008 Arbil 1 Pakhtakor 5
The two-time semi-finalists from Uzbekistan went behind after just 19 minutes when Haider Sabbah’s free kick was deflected beyond Ignatiy Nesterov by the Pakhtakor defensive wall.

Seven minutes before the interval, though, the scores were level when Salah Siamend put the ball in his own net following Darko Markovic’s corner.

Pakhtakor then took control in the second half, with Nodirbek Kuziboyev giving his side the lead in the 69th minute and, four minutes later, Markovic added his side’s third with a first-time effort.

With nine minutes remaining, substitute Alexander Geynrikh increased Pakhtakor’s advantage when he scored with a bicycle kick from near the penalty spot, giving goalkeeper Dydar Hamed no chance.

Pakhtakor should have claimed a fifth from the penalty spot minutes later only for Geynrikh’s effort to be kept out by Hamed but, three minutes into injury time, they did score again when Akmal Holmatov struck with a free-kick.
