Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 18 December 2019, the AQUATHLON 2019 competitions were held at the Republican College of Olympic Reserve.

Participants overcame swimming distances (800 meters) and running (5 kilometers). The event was organized by the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan

Juniors and professionals - 162 athletes from all over Uzbekistan took part in the competition. Participants from the Athletics, Cycling and Swimming Federations, the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports, the Watanparvar Jsc, the Republican Specialized Boarding School of the Olympic Reserve, the Republican College of Olympic Reserve, Dynamo Queen Sport and Children's Youth Sports Schools competed for the championship in age categories 11-14 years old, 15-17 years old, 18-25 and 26-32 years old.

An international class triathlete, coach of the Uzbekistan national team Viktor Zemtsev was the chief judge of the competition. Winners were awarded with commemorative medals and diplomas.

Aquatlon is a kind of triathlon, which includes swimming and running stages. Athletes compete for the fastest passage of all stages. Aquatlon gained popularity in the triathlon and various independent races in the second half of the 20th century. Modern aquatlon is considered a discipline of triathlon, since standard races are held at the same distances as the triathlon, but without a bicycle stage. Thus, this sport is regulated by the International Triathlon Union, which organizes world championships annually.

AQUATHLON 2019 competitions are held for the first time by the Uzbekistan Triathlon Federation in order to popularize the triathlon and active lifestyle, to increase the athletic skills of athletes. The Federation plans to annually hold similar competitions, including with the participation of amateur triathletes.
