Apple unveils iPhone 17 and the ultrathin iPhone Air
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 September, at its annual event titled “Awe-Dropping”, Apple officially introduced the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, along with the all-new ultrathin iPhone Air, underscoring its strategy of expanding the lineup across different market segments.
iPhone 17 – evolution of the base model
The standard iPhone 17 features a 6.3-inch OLED display with ProMotion refresh rates of up to 120 Hz and peak brightness of 3,000 nits — the brightest iPhone screen to date.
The 18 MP front camera with Center Stage technology has been redesigned into a square module, optimized for landscape selfies.
On the back, Apple introduced a 48 MP “Dual Fusion” main system, paired with a 48 MP ultra-wide lens — delivering four times the resolution of its predecessor.
It is powered by the A19 chip built on the 3-nm process, alongside the new N1 network chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
Durability has been enhanced with Ceramic Shield 2, and battery life now reaches up to 30 hours of video playback. Pre-orders open on 12 September, with sales starting from 19 September.
iPhone Air – Apple’s thinnest model ever
The centerpiece of the event was the iPhone Air — the thinnest iPhone in history, measuring just 5.6 mm.
It comes with either a 6.5-inch (or 6.3-inch, depending on configuration) ProMotion display and a titanium or reinforced Ceramic Shield 2 frame.
Performance is driven by the advanced A19 Pro chip paired with the C1x modem, while the N1 chip provides support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread (The Verge).
Cameras include a 48 MP Fusion main system, an 18 MP Center Stage selfie camera, and a Dual-Camera video mode. Battery life extends to 27 hours of video playback, or up to 40 hours when paired with the US$99 MagSafe battery pack.
The device supports only eSIM, freeing up space inside. Pricing starts at US$999 for the 256 GB version. Pre-orders begin on 12 September, with deliveries from 19 September.
iPhone Pro and Pro Max – power and endurance
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max come in a unibody aluminum chassis with improved cooling via a vapor-chamber system and a new aluminum alloy offering 20 times the thermal conductivity of the titanium used before.
Both models are powered by the A19 Pro chip, delivering 40 percent better sustained performance compared with the iPhone 16 Pro.
They house the largest iPhone batteries ever, supporting up to 39 hours of video playback.
The front camera is 18 MP with Center Stage, while the triple-lens 48 MP Fusion system on the back supports enhanced photography and video recording up to 4K/120 fps, macro, Dolby Vision, and more.
