Andijan region and Hainan agree to expand cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Andijan region led by regional governor Shukhratbek Abdurakhmanov visited China’s Hainan province on a working trip, according to the Dunyo news agency.

During a meeting with Hainan Governor Liu Xiaoming, the sides agreed to steadily develop interregional cooperation. In particular, they discussed expanding cooperation in trade, economic, investment, educational, medical and tourism sectors.

Following the talks, a memorandum on establishing sister-region relations between Andijan region and Hainan province was signed.

As part of the visit, the “Andijan–Hainan: Trade, Economic and Investment Cooperation” forum was held with the support of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Guangzhou. The event was attended by representatives of provincial foreign affairs and commerce departments, economic associations, as well as more than 150 leading Chinese companies.

Participants were presented with investment and tourism potential of Andijan region, as well as information on conditions created in the region for doing business.

The Andijan delegation also held talks with more than 15 companies operating in agriculture, furniture production, construction materials, electrical engineering and logistics. The parties discussed prospects for joint projects in the region, and a number of agreements were signed.

Following the visit, an agreement was reached to organize business missions of economic structures and leading companies from Hainan province to Andijan region. The sides also confirmed their intention to implement new investment projects across various sectors of the economy.
