An exhibition dedicated to the life path of Arminius Wambury in Central Asia takes place in Budapest

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Austria jointly with the National Library of the Academy of Sciences of Hungary and the PAIGEO Foundation organized an exhibition dedicated to the work and journey of the great Hungarian orientalist and political scientist - Arminia Wamberi (1832-1913) “Hungarian Dervish in Central Asia”, Dunyo reported.

For two months, visitors to the exhibition were presented works, manuscripts, historical exhibits and objects from the personal museum of a famous Hungarian scholar, created and collected by him during his travels to such cities of Uzbekistan as Bukhara, Khiva and Samarkand. During the exhibition, more than 5 thousand people visited it.

Director of the exhibition and President of the PAIGEO Foundation, Norbert Cismadia, noted that this cultural event testifies to the great interest of the Hungarian people in the great history and traditions of Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan.

“The stands and exhibits of our exhibition dedicated to historical Uzbek cities have become the pearl of this event and a center of attraction for visitors,” N. Chismadia noted. - Arminius Vambury is the person who connected Central Asia with Central Europe, Uzbekistan with Hungary. The book he wrote after his return describes the greatest history and culture of Uzbekistan. I was very happy to visit your country and personally made sure that it, as in the days of A. Wamberi, still attracts people from all over the world with its great history, unique culture and invaluable historical heritage. I really hope that this exhibition will also be presented to the attention of the Uzbek people and the great A. Wamberi will once again unite these states in the 21st century.

The admiration of visitors to the exhibition was also aroused by the Holy Quran, which the great Hungarian scientist and political scientist carried with him throughout his journey and never parted.

At the same time, the exhibition also featured translations of poems by such prominent Uzbek poets and thinkers as Alisher Navoi and Boborahim Mashrab, made by A. Wamberi himself in Hungarian.

Hungarian scientists and historians note the role and special place of Uzbekistan in the life of A.Vamberi. Evidence of this is his deep attachment to the history and culture of the country.

The exhibition will continue in other cities of Hungary and acquaint their residents and guests with the rich history and unique culture of Uzbekistan.
