Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of a trip to the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Akmaljon Kuchkarov visited the construction site of the Uzbek-Turkmen border trade zone, Dunyo news agency reported.
Representatives of the contracting organization - the repair and construction division of the Central Directorate of the Association of Consumer Societies of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan acquainted with the progress of construction work.
In accordance with the intergovernmental agreement signed on 5 October 2021, shopping centers - border free trade zones with an area of 3 hectares each - are currently being built in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan and the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan.
According to the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, construction work of the Trade Center in the Turkmen-Uzbek border zone in the Dashoguz region began in July 2023, the commissioning of the facility is scheduled for July 2025.
In turn, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan from 28 February 28, 2024, the construction of a border trade zone - a Trade Center - also began on the territory of the Shavat district of the Khorezm region.
The launch of these facilities will not only contribute to the further increase in the volume of mutual trade between the two countries, but will also serve to create new opportunities for realizing the economic potential of the Khorezm and Dashoguz regions, as well as improving the well-being of the local population.
