The participants welcomed Jordan, Luxembourg, Great Britain and Switzerland, who received status of founder states of the AIIB. They also discussed preparation of the charter of the AIIB.

The meeting was also attended by the heads of delegations from 29 countries-founders and head of the interim multilateral secretariat of the AIIB Jin Liqun.

The main purpose of AIIB is to promote economic development, create wealth and improve the interaction of infrastructure in Asia.

According to prepared plan on creation of the AIIB, all founder states should agree and sign final version of the bank’s charter. The signing of the draft Articles of Agreement on establishment of the AIIB is planned for June 2015. After all founder states ratify the document, the AIIB will officially founded by the end of 2015.

Potential constituent states of the AIIB are: Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Laos, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Switzerland, Tajikistan, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka. Another 17 countries have applied for membership in the AIIB.

Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank between potential founding members was signed on 24 October 2014. The authorized capital of the bank will amount to US$100 billion.

AIIB will finance social and economic projects in the region in the fields of energy, transport, logistics, urban and rural infrastructure
