Sports 13/06/2007 All set for knockout stage draws of ACL, AFC Cup and AFC Final Round for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games
 The draws for the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League 2007 and AFC Cup 2007 will be held tomorrow at AFC House along with the draw for the AFC Final Round for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The AFC Final Round for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will kick off the proceedings with 12 teams coming out of the pots for the crunch qualifiers which will be played between August 22-November 21.

Teams will be classified on the basis of the Men’s Olympic Football Competition – Athens 2004 and Asian Final Round. Pot A containing the 3 highest-ranked countries (Korea Republic, Japan, Iraq), pot B the countries ranked 4 to 6 (Bahrain, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia), pot C the countries ranked 7 to 9 (DPR Korea, Qatar, Syria), pot D the countries ranked 10 to 12 (Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Australia).

For the AFC Cup 2007 home-and-away knockout phase, the teams will be looking to avoid two-time defending champions Al Faisaly of Jordan in the draw. The teams which have qualified for the last eight are Al Nejmeh (Lebanon), Shabab Al Ordun and Al Wihdat (both Jordan), Sun Hei (Hong Kong), Singapore Armed Forces FC (Singapore), Mahindra United (India) and Tampines Rovers.

The AFC Champions League 2007 knockout stage draw will see Al Wahda (UAE), Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia), Al Karama (Syria), Sepahan (Iran), Urawa Red Diamonds, Kawasaki Frontale (both Japan) and Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma (Korea Republic) being slotted. Defending champions Jeonbuk Motors, who got a bye into the knockout stage, round off the list.
