Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — All five registered political parties in Uzbekistan have been authorized to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October. This was announced by the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan (CEC).
On 21 August, the CEC decided to admit the parties UzLiDeP, Milliy Tiklanish, the Social-Democratic Party of Adolat, the National Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (NDPU), and the Ecological Party to the elections.
It is noteworthy that the next parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan are set for 27 October. The electoral campaign commenced on 26 July.
For the first time, the elections will be held using a mixed majoritarian-proportional system: out of 150 seats in the Legislative Chamber, 75 deputies will be elected from single-member districts, while the remaining 75 will be elected from a single district based on votes cast for political parties.
