Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Abdualiyev met with the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland Markku Keinänen, who arrived in our country at the head of a representative delegation of Finnish business circles, on 12 April 2019.
During the conversation, prospects for the further development of bilateral relations were discussed.
It was emphasized that the establishment of the Honorary Consulate of Finland in the city of Tashkent will give the systemic character to the interstate relations and will enable to intensify contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
In particular, the significant potential for cooperation in the fields of ICT, waste management, introduction of equipment for the building materials industry, the gold mining industry with the involvement of advanced Finnish technologies was noted.
The possibility of holding the next round of Uzbek-Finnish ministerial political consultations in May 2019 in Tashkent was considered.
The parties spoke in favor of resuming the work of the Uzbek-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which will allow putting the joint work on the initiation and implementation of new projects into a practical direction.
Finnish Ambassador Marja Elina Liivala took part in the talks.
