Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Lebanon Cup champions Al Ahed salvaged a point from their clash with Busaiteen as the two sides drew 1-1 in their last Group A match of the AFC Cup at the Sports City stadium on Tuesday.

After a scoreless first half, Busaiteen took the lead through second-half substitute Mohamed Al Ansari after 70 minutes before Al Ahed leveled the scores through Hassan Matouk nine minutes later.

Al Ahed went into the game hoping that the result in the other match of the group would go their way but Neftchi’s 5-0 drubbing of Yemen’s Al Tilal ended their chances of going through with Bahrainis Busaiteen from the group.

Busaiteen dominated the early stages in this game as were clearly the better side but had to wait until the 26th minute to create their first chance of the night when Mohamed Saleh struck a powerful effort goalwards, Al Ahed goalkeeper Mohamad Hammoud blocked the ball but it bounced back to Khaled Omar who blasted over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.

The home side struggled to get into the game and failed to create any chances in the first half but they made a good start to the second period and could have opened the scoring six minutes into the second period when Hassan Maatouk edged several defenders before hitting a powerful shot that was saved by Busaiteen goalkeeper Husain Abdulla.

Busaiteen controlled proceedings in the next minutes and took the lead after 70 minutes when Abdulwahab Ali played a neat pass to Mohamed Al Ansari and he beat Mohamad Hammoud with a low shot to put his side ahead.

However, Al Ahed leveled the scores nine minutes later when Brazilian striker Junior Da Silva played a pass to Hassan Maatouk, who broke the offside trap and scored from the right.

Al Ahed tried their best to create chances of note in the remaining 11 minutes but they were unable to find a breakthrough and had to be content with the draw.
