Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan weightlifting team won its first medals at the World Cup in Phuket (Thailand). 

In the competition among men in the weight category up to 109 kg, the heroes of the day were Akbar Juraev and Sharofiddin Amriddinov.

Olympic champion Tokyo 2020 Juraev won 3 gold medals with a result of 189 kg in the snatch, 227 kg in the clean and jerk and 416 kg in the total of two exercises. Amriddinov won a bronze medal in the snatch with a result of 170 kg. His results of 208 kg in the clean and jerk and 378 kg in the sum of two exercises were not sufficient to win medals in these disciplines.

Unfortunately, Tursunoy Jabborova, who competed in the weight category over 87 kg, was unable to complete the competition after lifting 119 kg in the snatch.
