The agency reported that the flight attendant felt bad during flight and the crew of the flight had to carry out emergency landing in the capital city of Uzbekistan. The plane landed in Tashkent at 5:00 morning.
According to the agency, there were 253 people on board, including 12 crew members. The flight attendant was hospitalized after landing.
While landing at the Uzbekistan capital, the long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft suffered a burst tyre, but there were no injuries to anyone, an airline spokesperson said in New Delhi.
Air India said it send another Boeing-777 to carry out the flight to New York. A team of engineers and additional flight crew were also sent to Tashkent.
The remaining passengers were taken care of and provided all necessary facilities at Tashkent, the airline said. It added that the airline asked for assistance of Embassy of India in Tashkent as it has no office in Uzbekistan.
