The concert will be held in the Organ Hall of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan on 28 September 2016.
Aina Kalnciema was born in Riga, Latvia. Graduating with honours from piano and organ departments of St. Petersburg Conservatory, she perfected her skills in harpsichord interpretation in France, Germany, Holland, Norway, and Switzerland.
Since 1978, she has regularly performed as a harpsichord soloist, and has toured former Soviet Union, the USA, Canada, Australia, and European countries. Aina Kalnciema has performed with famous orchestras, such as the St. Petersburg Philarmonic, Moscow Virtuosi, Musica Viva, several chamber orchestras in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland. A. Kalnciema has participated in many European festivals and performed together with distinguished musicians, such as J. Holloway, B. Skride, I. Monighetti, S. Preston, L. Duftschmidt, A. Mustonen, A. Rudin, O. Zoboli, A. Utkin, and A. Grindenko, members of ensembles such as La Petite Bande, Musica Antiqua Köln, Les Arts Florissants, and Hortus Musicus. Since 1998, she is member of the Baltic Trio, which performs and records contemporary music for flute, cello and harpsichord written by composers from Baltic States.
Professor Aina Kalnciema leads harpsichord class at the Latvian Academy of Music, at the same time she is the President of Bach Music Foundation and the Director of International Bach chamber Music Festival in Latvia, which she started in 2001. Aina Kalnciema has made numerous recordings of early and contemporary music.
In 2008, Aina Kalnciema was awarded the 4th class Order of the Three Stars of the Republic of Latvia. In 2011, in the capacity of the President of Bach Music Foundation and the Director of Bach Chamber Music Festival, Aina Kalnciema received the Annual Award of Riga City Council “The White Sparrow” for her significant contribution to the international cultural exchange through collaboration with outstanding and renowned artists worldwide.
