Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) provided loans without a state guarantee in the amount of 325 million euros for the construction of a power plant in Surkhandarya region.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will allocate 225 million euros for the construction of a combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 1560 MW in Surkhandarya region.

The project will be implemented in Angorsk district of Surkhandarya region, in the northeast of Uchkizil reservoir.

The main goal of the project is to increase the capacity for the production of highly efficient electricity in accordance with the strategy of decarbonization of the energy sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the Islamic Development Bank allocates 100 million euros for the same purpose.
