Agrobank says its total capital grows by 31% in Jan-Jun
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Agrobank open joint stock commercial bank said its total capital grew by 31% in January-June 2009 and made up 166.9 illion soums as of 30 June 2009. Assets of the bank rose by 35% year-on-year to 1.55 trillion soums.

The bank’s resource base increased by 30% year-on-year and comprised 1.298 trillion soums in the reporting period.

Credit investments of Agrobank reached 1.182 trillion soums, or it gre by 35% year-on-year, the bank said. The bank allocated 125.9 billion soums to small businesses, of which 120.7 billion soums were own resources of the bank and 5.2 billion soums were attracted funds.

Agrobank was established in 1995 as Pakhta Bank and was reorganised and renamed in Q109. The reorganisation involved the subsequent takeover of the business of the smaller Uzbek bank, Gallabank, which specialised in servicing grain producers. At end of the first quarter of 2009, Agrobank was the fourth-largest bank in the country, holding around 9% of sector assets. Agrobank plays a central role in delivering agricultural credit, mainly to cotton and grain producers, in Uzbekistan.
